You joined Pinterest without previous experience in digital advertising or sales. What attracted you to the opportunity, and what has helped you build your career in this space?
I come from a creative background where I used Pinterest every single day, so I always considered it an exciting place to work. The opportunity to work with creative people within the tech industry was also very attractive. I was a bit unsure at first as I didn’t have a wide understanding of how my career could fit in, but I have been constantly supported to learn, upskill and grow. Our teams are willing to help and eager to collaborate, and we work together to get the best out of each project and make the journey lively.
My creative background helped me adapt quickly to this environment, giving me fresh perspectives on client needs and allowing me to find innovative solutions. Bringing a creative mindset meant I was able to connect with brands and teams in authentic ways, and contribute impactful ideas right from the start. I would encourage people considering roles in sales and account management to focus on the skills they can bring to the table, while also being conscious of the areas they want to develop. You don’t need to have every skill from day one; understanding your strengths and where you want to grow can help you focus your development and build your career.
You work with some of the UK’s biggest retail advertisers. What have you learned from partnering with major brands, and how do you collaborate across Pinterest to deliver for them?
Working with some of the UK’s largest brands has taught me the value of challenging how clients think about their strategy when using our platform. The results we’ve seen from our campaigns show how Pinterest users are planning, discovering and shopping across every stage of the funnel. Being able to bring those insights back to our clients, shift the conversation around Pinterest’s role in their strategy, and then see the impact in the results has been incredibly rewarding.
Partnering with major brands has taught me that the key to success is building relationships rooted in trust and openness. Every brand has unique challenges and ambitions. Only by truly listening, asking questions and understanding their goals can we create solutions together. This mirrors how we work within Pinterest: collaboration is always a team effort. We bring together teams from all parts of the business to deliver results.
For someone considering a Client Account Manager role at Pinterest, what do you think makes the opportunity here different from other platforms?
We have a clear mission and values that shape every aspect of our work. At Pinterest, we follow through on what we believe in. Positivity, impact and inspiration are part of our day-to-day life. Innovation and new ideas are truly valued and recognised. This helps us build a strong sense of community that nurtures our work and supports our career growth. Working here, I have learned as much from my managers as from our cross-functional teams and peers in similar roles. Pinterest is a great place for people with a growth mindset who are willing to learn from others.
One of my biggest learnings since joining Pinterest has been the level of ownership and autonomy you have in your role. You’re encouraged to think strategically about where you can have the greatest impact, rather than simply following an established playbook. That can be challenging at times, but it also pushes you to be creative, take initiative and really own the outcomes of your work. For me, that makes the role much more rewarding and is a big part of what continues to motivate me at Pinterest.
Viola Llaka, Client Account Manager (Germany), Dublin
You weren’t actively looking when Pinterest approached you about a role in Dublin. What made you take the conversation, and ultimately make the move?
I wasn’t actively looking at the time, but as an avid Pinterest user, I was very open to having the conversation when Pinterest reached out. The opportunity itself was just too good. Not only would I be joining a platform I already genuinely loved and used, but I would also be working for a company with a strong and distinctive mission.
The Client Account Manager role was also a really natural fit for my experience. In Germany, I had already been working closely with national and international brands, so I understood the market and the client perspective. At the same time, I had been contemplating another move and was keen to gain more international experience. Dublin felt like the perfect next step: The role, the people and the chance to grow in a new environment all came together at the right time.
Since relocating to Dublin, what have been your biggest learning opportunities, both as a Client Account Manager and from working in a global team?
The global environment at Pinterest definitely facilitates learning and growth in every aspect. I’ve learned so much in the last year and yet there is still so much more out there!
I’ve been able to develop a lot of hard skills through the role, from understanding the platform and its solutions in more depth to using data and insights to support clients. The environment is incredibly fast-paced, but that’s also what makes it so exciting. There is always something new to learn, adapt to and get involved in.
The experience has also been a huge part of my personal development. Working with a global team has strengthened my communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills, while also making me more confident, adaptable and given me the courage to step outside my comfort zone. The diversity of perspectives and experiences creates so many opportunities, so being open-minded and willing to learn is really important in my opinion.
What has surprised you most about living and working in Dublin, and what would you say to someone considering relocating for a role at Pinterest?
What has surprised me most is how welcoming Dublin is. The people here are genuinely some of the nicest people I’ve met in my life, and that makes it very easy to feel settled quickly. The city is also incredibly international, so although you’re moving somewhere new, you’re surrounded by people from all over the world and can connect with others very easily.
For anyone considering relocating for a role at Pinterest, I’d say: just do it! Honestly, I can only recommend it. Moving countries is a big step, but for me it has been incredibly rewarding both personally and professionally. Dublin gives you the opportunity to experience a new culture, meet people from all different backgrounds and build a genuinely international perspective, while Pinterest offers an amazing environment to keep learning and growing.

Your career has taken you from France to Kuala Lumpur and now Dublin. What made Dublin and Pinterest the right next step for you?
Building a career in Paris provided a strong foundation for me, but I always knew I wanted to gain international experience. That journey kicked off when I relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, following a career move for my partner. Navigating a new region and cultural environment was an amazing experience, but as I planned my next career step in tech, Pinterest remained my ideal company. When the opportunity came up to join Pinterest in Ireland and lead projects for the French market, I didn't hesitate for a second. Every exchange throughout the interviews confirmed that it was the perfect fit.
Dublin is a great place to work in an international environment with a vibrant culture. Moving to Dublin to work for Pinterest felt like a natural next step in my career. I am grateful to be part of such an amazing company and look forward to what comes next.
You partner with some of the world’s biggest luxury advertisers. What are some of the most exciting initiatives you’ve worked on, and what makes this space interesting as a Client Account Manager?
Working with prestigious French luxury brands across the European market is a unique and truly dynamic challenge. Luxury requires a lot of attention to detail, I approach every single project with a highly customized mindset.
As a Client Account Manager, I sit right at the intersection of client ambition and agency execution. I love playing a pivotal role in shaping our ongoing campaigns by bringing my own strategic media and platform insights to the table. For me, following a project from end to end is what makes this job immensely rewarding. It starts with a creative brief and brainstorming sessions, and turns months later into a multi-market campaign that reaches millions of people across Europe.
What stands out to you about the culture and way of working at Pinterest?
Working at Pinterest really feels like an extension of the platform itself. It’s a positive environment where I feel completely free to be myself. Joining the company has allowed me to enjoy a healthy work-life balance and a strong sense of autonomy in my day-to-day life. Pinterest truly values bringing people together, creating a supportive space where teams can collaborate openly and thrive together.
