The Pinterest Apprenticeship Program
The Pinterest Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity for candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and those who face barriers of entry into the tech industry to experience engineering, product management, design and research at Pinterest. Apprenticeships are up to one year long with the opportunity to be considered for conversion to a full-time role.

The Pinterest Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity for candidates from non-traditional backgrounds and those who face barriers of entry into the tech industry to experience Engineering at Pinterest. Apprenticeships are up to one year long with the opportunity to be considered for conversion to a full-time Engineer. Employment throughout the program is at will, and while programs can be up to one year in length, there is no guarantee on the specific length of the program. People who identify as women, Black/African American, Latiné or Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, and/or Pacific Islander and LGBTQ+ are especially encouraged to apply although the apprenticeship program is not exclusive to these groups.
What you’ll do:
- Work alongside other Pinterest Engineers and key partners on our Design, Research, and Product Management teams on a high-impact project
- Collaborate with an assigned mentor who will help you navigate the challenges associated with being an Engineer at Pinterest
- Continually grow — professionally and personally through various learning and development opportunities
What we’re looking for:
- Candidates from non-traditional tech backgrounds, including but not limited to: coding bootcamp grads, candidates looking to re-enter the tech workforce, candidates who are self-taught, and those who do not hold a degree or related professional experience in Engineering roles.
- Self-motivated and eager candidates with a passion to learn to code and curiosity to learn what it’s like to work and succeed as a Engineer at Pinterest
- 1+ years of experience working collaboratively and clearly communicating in a professional work environment preferred
- Apprentices are expected to generally work 40+ hours per week. As such, students currently enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program are not eligible for this position.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language

- Learn about the design process, starting from ideation and exploration, all the way to executing and implementing with Engineering.
- Collaborate with an assigned mentor who will help you navigate the challenges associated with being an Product Designer at Pinterest
- Continually grow — professionally and personally through various learning and development opportunities

For this role, applicants must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The Apprenticeship Program focuses on on-the-job learning and provides candidates looking to start their careers with the 1:1 mentorship and support they need to become successful full-time employees in their chosen field. Apprenticeships are up to one year in length with the opportunity to be considered for conversion to full-time. During the program, Apprentices complete quarterly performance reviews and receive ongoing feedback to support their development and growth. In addition to their day-to-day work, Apprentices also have the opportunity to attend professional development events and social programming designed to supplement their time at Pinterest.
Each Apprenticeship interview process begins with an initial assessment - this can range from essay questions in the application to a coding assessment. From there, candidates may move forward to a video interview with a Pinterest employee. The last stage of the process includes three final round interviews where candidates will meet with a hiring manager and several Pinployees.
The interview process will vary each year and depend on the role you’re applying for.
As part of the interview process, all Apprentices will be assigned a team that aligns with their current interests. Apprentices will work alongside their mentor, manager, and peers in addition to cross-functional partners to execute on their projects. An Apprentice’s work will vary depending on their team’s focus area, goals and current roadmap.
