At Pinterest, creating a positive impact starts with our people. This September, that spirit was on full display as our employee-led climate group, PinPlanet, took center stage at NYC’s Climate Week—connecting with change-makers, co-creating climate solutions and inspiring our broader community to take action.

What is Climate Week?

Each year, Climate Week NYC draws together thousands of thought leaders, organizations and global citizens. Organized by The Climate Group and held in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly, Climate Week is one of the world’s largest annual climate events—a rallying point for those who believe in building a more sustainable, resilient future for us all. For seven days, the city transforms into a hub for innovation, collaboration, and climate optimism, hosting hundreds of events exploring new ideas, policies, and technologies shaping our planet’s future.

“NYC Climate Week always sparks a wave of creativity and optimism, energizing the community to imagine and inspire a more sustainable future together.” - Mia Ketterling, Head of Sustainability and PinPlanet Co-Lead

How PinPlanet supported this year’s Climate Week

Pinterest’s employee-led climate group, PinPlanet, is at the heart of our climate work. PinPlanet harnesses the creativity and energy of our global team—hosting workshops, facilitating community action opportunities, and helping employees, Pinners and business partners discover ways to make more sustainable choices.

"Joining PinPlanet this year has given me the chance to connect with amazing colleagues who are passionate about driving impact. It’s inspiring to see how, together, we can turn our ideas into action, and we’re doing it with the full support of our company.” - Madison Conrado, Associate Community Engagement Lead and PinPlanet Communications Lead

This year, PinPlanet structured a new leadership team to boost engagement and expand our impact both within Pinterest and beyond. With renewed focus, the group has launched an internal newsletter, revamped PinPlanet’s presence on Pinterest, elevated employee education around sustainability trends and topics, and fostered deeper partnerships across teams and with external organizations.

“To me, being part of the PinPlanet community means building connections, lifting each other up, and taking meaningful action together. Thanks to strong leadership support, I feel empowered not just to talk about change, but to make it a reality as a united team.” - Ambar Paulino, Sr. Content Designer, Learning and PinPlanet Education lead

Building on PinPlanet’s expanded efforts, Pinterest took on a more prominent role in Climate Week this year, most notably our sponsorship and activation at The Marketplace of the Future.

For Climate Week 2025, Pinterest sponsored the 9th Annual Marketplace of the Future (MOTF). MOTF brings together climate innovators, businesses and thought leaders to spotlight solutions for a positive climate future. The event is a hands-on, immersive expo designed to demystify climate tech, spark new partnerships and make sustainability accessible to all.

Pinterest’s presence at MOTF was led by PinPlanet volunteers and brought our company’s purpose to life. Throughout the event, our team hosted an interactive ‘Home of the Future’ activation—sharing actionable ways for attendees to live more sustainably, inviting participants to imagine their ideal climate future, and connecting new audiences with content from our thriving eco-conscious community including partners Climate Diva and Milpa Farm. Anchored in the 2025 Pinterest Predicts Trend Terra Futura, we focused on showcasing a sustainable, optimistic vision of the future. Mia Ketterling, Pinterest’s Head of Sustainability, spoke on a panel focused on Climate Optimism.

“It’s so important for Pinterest to show up and voice our support around climate and sustainability - for our Pinners, our employees, and our marketing partners. I was immensely proud of how PinPlanet, working with Marketplace of the Future, brought the Pinterest brand and ‘Terra Futura’ trend to life.” – Kevin Houldsworth, Lead Client Partner, US Enterprise Sales and PinPlanet Co-Lead
