Earlier this year, Pinterest launched a global volunteer initiative activating Impact Ambassadors, regional leads who will support planning and execution of volunteer work within local communities. This April, three of Pinterest’s Impact Ambassadors will join the Life at Pinterest team to share more about their time at Pinterest, embarking on this new opportunity and why they’re passionate about giving back. First up, meet Myriah Towner, Content Programming Manager based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Growing at Pinterest
Over the past three and a half years, my time at Pinterest has been a fulfilling journey. I began on the Creators team in 2021, focusing on supporting creators in the food and drink space. My background at the Museum of Food and Drink in Brooklyn and my work in agriculture, supporting farmers and community gardeners, seamlessly aligned with my Pinterest role. Initially, my work was driven by my passion for food and agriculture, which only increased as I supported a diverse array of creators. My role has evolved significantly, as I am now a Creative Producer on the Programming & Originals team, allowing me to oversee creative content development from inception to completion and streamlining processes for quality and efficiency for impactful content and activations on platform.
Inspiring impact
My passion for giving back began in my childhood, fueled by the kindness and generosity my family and I received from our community during hard times. This inspired my journey as an Impact Ambassador at Pinterest, where I channel this gratitude into action. Volunteering with Camp Horizon in Atlanta is a significant part of my life. Supporting and uplifting children and families in the foster care system has been truly rewarding. The resilience and growth of the campers inspires me, and I feel privileged to support them as they navigate their paths in life.
The road ahead
Looking forward, I'm enthusiastic about hosting a clean-up day at Atlanta's historic first Black park, which will coincide with Earth Month and Global Week of Service. This event represents a fresh opportunity to merge my love for community service and environmental stewardship. I believe in the power of small acts of kindness to effect lasting change, and I strive to pay forward the compassion that shaped my life. I’m really excited to keep building a brighter future, one step at a time.
