This month, Pinterest Impact Ambassadors, or regional leads supporting planning and execution of volunteer work, joined the Life at Pinterest team to share more about their career journey, embarking on this new volunteer role and why they’re passionate about giving back. In our final Impact Ambassador spotlight, we’re joined by Philip Floyd, Sr. Sourcer based in Dublin, Ireland.

Recruiting at Pinterest

As a Sourcer on Pinterest’s Talent Acquisition team, my role is to identify and engage top talent for some of our most exciting opportunities across our European offices. I joined Pinterest because I had been an avid user for years and was inspired by the company’s evolution - from its IPO to the expansion into shopping and launch into new global markets.

When candidates ask why they should join Pinterest, I always highlight two reasons. Firstly, you get to be part of a globally recognized brand that people genuinely love and connect with. Secondly, Pinterest gives everyone the opportunity to make a real impact, where you can collaborate closely with senior leaders, gain visibility across the organization, and work alongside a passionate global team committed to building a positive, safe, and inspiring corner of the internet. The bonus point is always PinFlex, our work model! I have worked from other countries and even visited our Sydney office. I had an amazing time, so if you’re joining us, I’d get your travel Pinterest board ready!

Inspiring impact

My passion for social impact started with a goal to challenge myself and gain new perspectives through meaningful causes in Dublin. After four years in Pinterest’s Dublin office, I’ve seen how connected our team is and how eager everyone is to collaborate on initiatives that make a difference. Also as my role sits on our People Team, I saw an opportunity to strengthen our culture by helping employees feel more connected to our mission. That’s why I became an Impact Ambassador with the aim to create initiatives that bring Pinterest’s values to life and drive positive change for local organisations. Though the program is still relatively new, the enthusiasm from our Dublin team has been incredible, and it’s inspiring to see how they’re using their creativity to make an impact. It’s also allowed us to connect with colleagues across different teams, and I was delighted to meet my amazing co-lead, Kalyn, who’s been instrumental in leading the charge here in Dublin.

Global Week of Service

At Pinterest, the Global Week of Service is a unique opportunity to give back to our local communities and support the environment. This year, I’m especially excited that our Dublin office is teaming up with an organisation to encourage collective action in caring for our planet. As part of Earth Month, Pinterest has also introduced a 2:1 donation match campaign for climate action initiatives, creating a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and support local sustainability efforts. I believe that social and environmental impact work like this reflects Pinterest’s belief that positivity pays—whether that's by driving engagement on our platform or creating real-world change. As well as making a difference to our local areas, these initiatives bring us together, helping us connect with colleagues, learn new skills, and foster collaboration.  I’m looking forward to seeing the impact that future initiatives will have for our Dublin office!
