In our recent Life at Pinterest Blog, we shared the ways our team was recognizing this year’s Season of Giving. Throughout the month, we caught up with Pinterest employees to get their take on giving back to the community in meaningful ways. Meet employees from around the globe as they share how we inspire impact through collective action.
Volunteering together
Richard Santoro, VP of Government Affairs & Social Responsibility, Washington D.C.
As the newest member of the Government Affairs & Social Responsibility team, getting to bond with my colleagues over something so meaningful was truly special. Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago was more than just a team-building exercise; it was a chance to give back to the community and make a real difference. It’s experiences like these that make working at Pinterest so rewarding.
Jessica Mierau, Administrative Business Partner, San Francisco
Earlier this month, we hosted over 100 Pinterest employees from the IT Org for a team on-site and participated in a volunteer activity with Move for Hunger. We built structures out of canned goods depicting landmarks in Pinterest office cities and donated over 45,000 meals to the SF Marin Food Bank! The IT Org is passionate about giving back, and it's inspiring to see my colleagues come together to make a difference. As we head into the holiday season, we hope to inspire others to spread a little extra cheer.
Grace Borchers, Sr. Client Account Manager, US Enterprise Sales, New York
I joined Pinterest nearly four years ago because of our mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love. From hosting gift drives and volunteering events with my team and clients to leading impact activations with nonprofit organizations over the last four years, Pinterest has empowered me to extend my personal values into the workplace, trusting me to help bring our mission to life. These community-focused initiatives have fostered deeply meaningful connections within my team and enhanced our client partnerships, reinforcing the profound sense of purpose that comes from serving others.
Supporting our communities
Nicole Williams, Integrated Marketing Manager, Consumer Marketing, Los Angeles
Giving back fulfills our calling to generosity, to give of ourselves in a way that’s cheerful. I am deeply passionate about serving causes that tackle black maternal health, food disparities, the empowerment of black girls in STEM and the beautification of this planet we have the privilege to inhabit. With that and wanting to take advantage of Pinterest’s 3:1 donation matching on Giving Tuesday, I chose to give to Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc., World Central Kitchen + Black Girls Code Inc. To know that your (even small) gift can be met with 3x the support only furthers the impact we’re all able to have on these great organizations.
Jamie McHale, UK Lead - Media & Publisher Partnerships, London
Giving back is very important to me and I really appreciate how Pinterest supports this through generous 3:1 donation matching on Giving Tuesday. I leveraged this matching to maximise my giving to UK-based LGBTQ+ charities making a difference for my community: Positively East, Rainbow Migration & LGBT+ Switchboard.
We hope this blog inspires you to give back to causes that you’re passionate about this Giving season. To learn more about our team and the work that they do, check out the rest of the Life at Pinterest Blog.
