Hi Sarah! Great to meet you. Let’s start with a brief introduction.

I’m Sarah Kurzrock, and I’ve been with Pinterest for two and a half years. I’m a Senior Client Partner in the Germany office, with a primary focus on financial services. My work is complex, fun and intriguing. I get to come up with innovative solutions and think outside the box. I got married last year, and I planned my whole wedding on Pinterest. I’m able to use my personal experience as an example for my clients since I’m also an avid Pinterest user. It gives them real life insight into how to reach their desired audiences on our platform.

What led you to the Pinterest team?

In 2019, I actually met Andréa Mallard, Pinterest’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, at Pinterest Presents, our annual global advertiser summit, in Germany. It was one of the first events that Pinterest hosted in Hamburg. I remember talking to her and thinking, “Imagine working for Pinterest. That would be so cool.” I was working in an agency at the time, and platforms were my specialty.

Three years later, I thought it was time for a change. I applied to a role at Pinterest, and I got an offer. It’s special to be here because I’m a little bit of a fan girl. I use the platform every day, and it’s a dream come true to work for the company.

How would you describe Pinterest’s culture?

We’re not only selling this idea of inspiration, we’re living it. I get the chance to work with so many people from different backgrounds. Everyone I’ve met over the years are amazing, talented people that I have the opportunity to learn from each and every day. I’ve never experienced this at any other company. My colleagues bring new ideas, approaching challenges with open mindsets. We’re always working together to better the company as one unit.

The other part that I find truly special is the Women@ employee resource group. Wow, have I met women who have already had such a big impact on me. I couldn’t be more proud to be part of the community and lead the Women@Circles, a way for women across the company to connect with each other. At Pinterest, I’ve met people who will be a part of my life inside and outside of work.

How do you create an impact in your Sales role?

I’m very determined when supporting my clients. I also get very excited to sell Pinterest because I believe so deeply in the platform and the amazing things we can do for our advertisers, especially financial services. Financial education is so important, and part of my impact is making a positive imprint on users’, specifically women’s, lives. We show the value of financing your dreams and planning for the future. I learn something new everyday and also broaden my horizons.

You’ve shared that Pinterest has helped you plan for some of life’s important moments. Which ones were most memorable?

  • My wedding - We did a lot of planning ourselves on Pinterest. Our moms are both very artistic, so they helped bring our vision to life.

  • A new look - I had really long hair, and I used Pinterest to help plan my big haircut. After the wedding, I cut 30 cm off, donating it to make wigs for kids who have cancer.

  • Celebrating year 30 - I planned my 30th birthday on Pinterest, and my friends and I went on a trip to Sylt, an island in Germany. I DIY’d a lot of the decorations including writing names within shells I collected, cutting out paper mache and building charcuterie boards.

We have to ask, what are you currently Pinning?

Currently, I’m preparing for my safari in Kenya; it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m planning my outfits, where to go, what to bring and things to do in Nairobi.
