In April 2026, Pinterest opened a new office in New York City. Now, our Design and Construction team returns to Life at Pinterest to share the story behind the space. Get a closer peek inside the office and discover the inspiration, creativity and thoughtful details that brought our NYC home to life.
Overview
The design philosophy centers on the duality of New York City: an ever-evolving icon that exists in moments of both rest and takeover. This dichotomy is reflected in a layered design approach that spans foundational, core, and "magical" layers, creating a sense of depth and discovery as employees navigate the space.
The floor is organized by the seasons of New York, beginning with an "evergreen" reception area inspired by classic Manhattan hotels and barista stations that reflect the city’s vibrant coffee culture. As employees move through the space, they transition through zones inspired by Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. The office offers a diverse range of environments—including gathering areas, quiet workstations, focus rooms, and social spaces—all intentionally designed to empower employees to choose the setting where they can do their best work.
Reception
The reception area draws inspiration from New York’s iconic, historic hotels. Elegant architectural features and refined finishes work together to create a sophisticated yet welcoming first impression.

Perk’d (Barista Station)
Perk’d, our dedicated barista station, pays homage to the city’s rich coffee heritage. It serves as a social hub where employees can grab their daily brew and relax at nearby tables, cozy banquettes, or the adjacent outdoor terrace.

All Hands (Madison Square Park)
Located directly across from our office, Madison Square Park served as the primary inspiration for the Servery and All Hands space. Elements of the park are woven into the design through fence-inspired details, lush greenery, and even custom manhole cover motifs reflected in the furniture and finishes. This dining area opens onto an outdoor terrace, offering employees a scenic spot to take a break and enjoy the city views.

Executive Briefing Centers
Our New York office has two Executive Briefing Centers - one bringing in details of NY’s famous restaurants, and the other styled as a chic NY apartment. Each EBC has a lounge area, two conference rooms, and two focus rooms that serve as inspiration-focused spaces for client meetings and events.

Pop Up Areas
Two pop-up areas provide additional space for events and activations. Fifth Avenue Fashion Gallery brings New York’s storied retail shops and glamorous displays into focus, where they can be merchandised for specific clients and events. Soho Beauty Bazaar highlights NY’s trend setting and beauty styles, and includes a make up station and selfie backdrops.

Multi Purpose Room (Deluxe Diner)
Our multi-purpose rooms can be sized and configured for different uses. This area is inspired by NY’s diners - ubiquitous in each neighborhood and filled with people from all walks of life.

Lounges (The Catskills and the Hamptons)
New Yorkers’ favorite seasonal vacation spots are highlighted in the employee lounges where our employees can work alone or in collaboration with team members.
