This Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Heritage Month, we’re aligning to the theme “Woven.” It's a celebration of how API culture, style, and innovation interlaces with our history and shapes the future. The rich tapestry of API identity has influenced art, fashion, food and technology, setting trends that transcend borders. Today, meet our global leads for the Asians@ employee resource group and discover what the theme means to them on a personal and professional level.

This Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Heritage Month's theme, "Woven," really hits home for me. Personally, it reminds me of my childhood visits to my grandparents, where I’d braid the Chinese red good luck knots hanging from the walls. The threads weaving in and out echo how API culture is woven into the world, influencing art, fashion, technology, and food. These traditions from my grandparents shape my life, and I hope to pass them down to future generations.

Professionally, "woven" means integrating the richness of my culture into the workplace, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

The theme “Woven” deeply resonates with me. It beautifully captures how our unique threads - cultures, experiences, and perspectives - intertwine to shape the fabric of our workplace and the world around us. As someone who grew up Burmese in Australia, I’ve often moved between cultures, learning to honor tradition while embracing innovation. What once felt like a balancing act has become one of my greatest strengths: the ability to connect across differences and spark meaningful change. This month, I’m proud to celebrate the collective power of the Asian community and how, together, we’re weaving a legacy of inclusion, resilience, and lasting impact.

“Woven” might just be one of my favorite themes for API Heritage Month yet. When I think about our community, it really is such a beautiful collection of cultures that share so much in common while also having unique and special traditions and celebrations. And with this theme, we’re able to come together to celebrate our shared experiences while also making space to honor and amplify our unique experiences as well. I love that we’re able to weave together our experiences across teams, both personally and professionally, and bring our ideas and cultures to life to share with the people in our lives. “Woven” to me, means celebrating all that we’ve done as a community while also looking forward at all the opportunities still to come!

“Woven” truly captures the beauty of the vibrant Asian and Pacific Islander (API) culture. Throughout this heritage month, I’m grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the cultural mosaic of the API community, create a sense of belonging for everyone and help Pinterest employees build connections personally and professionally. By embracing the magic behind “Woven”, we design a space where everyone can share their unique story and the experiences behind their journey. As a first-generation Thai American, I’ve learned how to bridge and blend Thai heritage with American culture. On a personal level, it is exciting to see the essence of “Woven” with API influences multidimensionally intertwined with mainstream culture through art, music, fashion and cuisine.
