Honoring Black History Month with Tailored

Meet the original fashion rebel: the Black dandy.

Breaking barriers with their clothes, they showed how a suit could speak volumes. The way pocket squares can sing. How to introduce yourself with a tie.

They sent messages with style, changing our closets forever. Because it’s not just what we wear. It’s what we want to say. And now, every search and save is a way to tell our story.

Join us this February as Pinterest honors those who dared to dress – and let your next look become part of our legacy.

“Black fashion isn’t just about the clothes we wear, it’s the legacy we carry.”

Abby Adesanya, Blackboard Co-Lead

How the Pinterest team is recognizing BHM

This year, Blackboard curated Celebration Boxes tied to the Tailored theme. Assembled to help boost Pinterest employees’ style, add a pop of color or even a très chic accessory, each box is shaped to help our community bring out their most dapper selves.

“Every detail in this year’s Black History Month activation was intentional. We wanted this year to be a beautiful representation of the Black dandy’s legacy––and the role our fashionable roots play in influencing culture and style today.” Christyna Conway, Blackboard Co-Lead

Every Thursday in February, the Pinterest team will be able to have a taste of the best bites of Black culture at our in-office lunches held in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Toronto and Paris.

We’re also hosting a series of special virtual and IRL events, inviting all employees to join us in commemorating Black History Month as a community. From conversations around Black fashion’s influence with costume historians to unpacking sustainability in our community with eco-experts, we have an incredible slate of programming designed to recognize how style is woven with Black history.

“The Black fashion experience is not a monolith, and our programming this year was thoughtfully coordinated to reflect that. We’re excited to introduce experts across fashion history to our Blackboard community, with the goal of inspiring more style rebels and tastemakers.” Emily Barisone, Blackboard Co-Lead

Warm wishes for BHM

However you choose to celebrate, we hope you express yourself to the fullest (and maybe add a few new looks to your closet) this February. From all of us here in the Blackboard community, Happy Black History Month!
