As part of our ongoing series spotlighting global community members during Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Asians@ is proud to introduce Puteri Fatia, Sr. Editor, ID, based in Singapore.

Hi Puteri! First things first, thanks for chatting with us. How did you hear about the opportunity to join Pinterest?

I found this opportunity during a career break while I was exploring newborn and kids photography.  My career has always revolved around content, editorial, lifestyle and building communities. I'm also a Pinterest enthusiast— as a photographer and a mom of two, I’ve spent countless hours scrolling for inspiration. The chance to join this team felt like the perfect way to combine everything I love into one inspiring role! I'm so ready to pin this moment!

Can you share more about your role on the Programming & Originals team?

I began my journey as the Editorial Manager for Indonesia, based in Singapore, where my role was to engage our audience with trends, moments, and inspirations that truly resonated. It was an exciting time as I also teamed up with the Creators team to build vibrant communities, educating creators on content creation, and growing our presence in Indonesia.

Fast forward to now, and I've had the opportunity to lead our editorial expansion into 29 new markets across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. It's been a challenge I’ve really enjoyed, making sure our content truly connects and resonates with Pinners from all over the globe.

What are some of the ways the Singapore office celebrates heritage moments? Are there any memories that stick out to you?

In our Singapore office, celebrating heritage moments is an exciting way to dive into the mix of diverse cultures around us. Last year, thanks to Asians@ community support, our team jumped into a Korean cooking class, rolling up our sleeves to create and sample traditional dishes. It was more than just about the food; it was a chance to embrace and appreciate the rich cultural stories behind each recipe.

Being in Singapore—a vibrant city full of cultural diversity—gives us the unique opportunity to celebrate various traditions. Chinese New Year is an annual highlight that livens up our office with its fun celebrations. We come together to share meals and soak up the lively cultural atmosphere.

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, stands out as one of the celebrations I remember fondly. We played some games and enjoyed the traditional delicacies. A few years back, we also introduced a bit more excitement with K-Pop and Indian dance classes, which added a fun twist to our usual routine.

How does the theme “Woven” connect to areas of your life?

The theme "Woven" is really a part of my everyday journey, especially when I'm at work. Every article we create for different countries, each heritage celebration we dive into, and every conversation at the office contributes a unique thread to our life at Pinterest.

The exposure to different cultures allows us to truly appreciate and acknowledge each other’s uniqueness. Each celebration subtly enriches our lives, offering us deeper understanding and creating a collection of shared memories that connects our team in a more meaningful way. It’s about experiencing these cultural moments and allowing them to gently shape our perspectives.

Watching our team and content grow, it's exciting to see how we keep adding new threads to this vibrant cultural fabric, making our shared narrative richer and more layered.

I'm excited to continue this journey, to explore new traditions and build those essential connections. It’s all about seeing how every thread—whether at work or in life—comes together to create something genuinely special.

What Pinterest board is currently inspiring you?

Like many Pinners, I'm really into aesthetic quotes and wallpapers. A few years back, I started teaching part-time about media and content planning at my former university in Indonesia and it’s been a rewarding journey ever since. With each new class, I introduce a fun project: we create a collaborative Pinterest board filled with whatever inspires and motivates them during their academic journey. The boards quickly populate with memes, quotes, inspiring collages, and photos of dream goals. It’s fascinating to see how each Pin carries personal meaning while contributing to a shared theme. These boards allow me to better understand fresh perspectives and provide a refreshing boost of motivation for myself too. I love how these collaborative projects turn into a shared source of inspiration and personal expression.
