Woman& Series: May Edition

a collage of different images of people

The Woman& Series highlights and amplifies the other significant aspects of the diverse women of Pinterest’s identities to further create belonging within our company and product, while celebrating intersectionality between Pinclusion Groups.

This month, the Women@ Pinclusion Group in partnership with our Asians@ Pinclusion Group are spotlighting the women at Pinterest who are members of both communities to celebrate their intersectionality and recognize Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Meet Seerat Singh, Manager, Sales Strategy & Operations

I am a woman&… a South Asian expat, a global citizen and a deeply grateful Pinployee. I take immense pride in building an independent life, paving my path to the incredible people at Pinterest and being a strong advocate for women in the workplace and beyond. I am a woman&… someone that is a force to be reckoned with because of the women and allies that surround and inspire me; and because Pinterest’s culture encourages that very curiosity and candor the little girl in me refused to let go of.

Meet Joey Lai, Product Operations Manager II

At my parents’ home, you’ll hear us mixing many languages. My dad is from Malaysia, my mom is from Hong Kong, and I was born and raised in the Netherlands. Seven years ago, I went on an adventure just like my parents once did. When I left Amsterdam for San Francisco, I too moved far from home. Working at Pinterest has given me access to a warm, diverse community of the most talented and driven coworkers, many of whom I consider close friends. What we all have in common is our love, curiosity and care for Pinners, who just like us are inspiring individuals working on ideas they love.

Meet Bindiya Duffy, IT Project Manager

Hi, my name is Bindiya: an Indian Sikh woman by birth, American by citizenship and multicultural by marriage. As a Project Manager within IT Operations, I’m lucky to work alongside a powerhouse of talented and diverse individuals who aim for extraordinary everyday!  A coach/mentor to many from all walks of life, Pinterest gives me the space to be a change champion who’s constantly disrupting monotony and looking for ways to challenge myself and others to think outside the box, be fearless and hold each other accountable at work and outside of it.

Meet Lea Anderson, Partner Manager

My name is Lea and as a Korean adoptee I am honored to be featured in the Women& series during AAPI Heritage month. I am a Partner Manager on our sales team at Pinterest and have worked here for 5+ years. In those years, I have had the privilege of working on teams and with mentors that embody and celebrate diversity of thought, experience and background. I would like to think that that experience has led me to my superpower of creating belonging across all facets of my role – with clients, colleagues and mentees. I am proud to say that I work for Pinterest – the positive corner of the internet.

Meet Jamie Cabaccang, Staff Product Designer

I’m a Filipina & Chinese-American woman leading Product Design for Pinterest Trends and Media Planning. I’m in Seattle and I love being a Pinployee. The community here is very special which is why I’ve been here for over 4 years. Everyone has the best of intentions for each other, the products we are creating, for each of our users and for the world.

Growing up in my culture, we learn to suppress our voices as a way to respect others, avoid conflict and not take up too much space. It creates limiting beliefs such as: “I can’t be my authentic self”, “My words don’t matter” and “I must play small”. These can have direct challenges impacting our career growth and mental health. I’ve overcome these beliefs and I’ve been helping others do the same. At Pinterest, we have a very inclusive culture which enables me to show up as my authentic self, bring my voice into the conversations and contribute through my diverse perspective and creativity. We uplift each other!
