Tierra Patmavanu’s inspired career: Blending passion, purpose and finance

I’m Tierra Patmavanu, a Finance Manager for the Marketing, Comms, Design & Creative (MCDC) and Global Content Organization based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I joined the company in 2020 when I learned about the opportunity from a colleague who also attended my undergraduate college. I’m very grateful for her introduction to Pinterest. Today, I’m excited to take you through my career journey and share how Pinterest has inspired me to build a career that I love! 

Throughout my four years, I am grateful for the remarkable opportunity to develop a greater understanding about our strategic investment deployment through various Finance roles. From my first role in Sales Compensation, I managed the variable compensation for a 500+ sales organization. It was incredibly rewarding to create a high impact. As I wanted to increase my knowledge about our operational excellence and headcount, I transitioned laterally to Operations (G&A) Strategic Finance as a Finance Business Partner to the Workplace, People, & CEO / Strategy team.  With an enthusiasm to learn more about the consumer-facing aspect and our incredible campaigns (Pinterest Predicts, Cannes, Coachella etc.), I moved vertically and serve as a Marketing, Comms, Design & Creative and Global Content Organization Finance Manager today. 

Furthermore, together with strong support and encouragement from my manager, extraordinary leaders and mentors, I pursued my Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) and learned multiple dimensions about Pinterest through my roles.

I continued my professional development by graduating with my MBA to drive more impact at Pinterest. I’m tremendously thankful to PinFlex for the opportunity to strengthen my global business partnering experience, and to visit our world-class offices in London, Paris, Mexico City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

As an Asians@ Pinclusion Group (PG) Lead, I help foster a greater sense of belonging. During my study abroad experience, I was inspired to foster more community and connect with my culture. As a PG Lead, I hope more employees will learn more about the AAPI community through in-office and virtual activations.
