Each March, our Women@ Pinterest Pinclusion Group leads us through impactful and captivating programming to recognize and celebrate Women’s History Month. Women@ supports, connects, empowers and advances all women of Pinterest while simultaneously activating allies to do the same. Through workshops, discussions and hosting our annual Women’s Conference, we spent this month commemorating the unique experiences of Pinterest women and all that they do to build a more positive internet for users around the world.
Our annual Women’s Conference
This year, Pinterest’s sixth annual Women’s Conference was tied to the theme, “I am Woman&,” inspired by the simple truth that women are not a monolith. There are so many factors of identity that impact women’s unique experiences and contribute to how they navigate the world.
We held the Women’s Conference virtually with on-site activations in our San Francisco, Dublin, São Paulo and Chicago offices. Through thoughtful conversations, engaging discussions and inspiring talks from women change makers, thought leaders, artists and athletes from around the world, we were able to bring this theme to life and celebrate together.
This year’s agenda included…
- An Honest Conversation on What it Means to be Woman& - Erin Elofson, Pinterest VP, Enterprise Sales, CAPAC
- A Diverse Perspective; What it Means to be “I am Woman&...” as a Pinployee - A panel discussion with Pinterest’s very own Amy Hong (Sr. Staff Product Designer), Emily Barisone (Sr. Content Growth Specialist, Community, NA) and Mara Lantz (Manager II, Content Design) moderated by Autumn Rose Vargas (Enterprise Account Partner).
- More sessions with incredible external speakers from around the world who inspired our team through thought-provoking and empowering workshops on women’s health, personal growth and creative expression.
A note from this year’s Women’s Conference Co-Chairs
“Being a Co-Chair for Pinterest’s 2024 Women’s Conference was an incredible experience! Working with a dedicated team, planning engaging speaker sessions and seeing the event come to life was truly rewarding. We celebrated women, built connections and left feeling empowered and inspired.”
Alexa Siegel, Sales Training Partner
“What an electrifying whirlwind the Pinterest 2024 Women’s Conference has been! As a woman, a mother and a business leader, I was truly inspired by the exceptional speakers, learning a lot from their wisdom. The conference provided a great opportunity for everyone at Pinterest to connect and build new relationships. I'm incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work that each and every person poured in, recognizing that ‘we are better together.’"
Ayten Ates, Industry Manager, Retail, Germany
Celebrations during March
In addition to the Women’s Conference held on March 21, Women@ planned month-long programming for development and connection.
Financial Wellness
To advance and empower financial literacy, Women@ presented two financial wellness sessions. The webinar focused on investing and decision making to achieve individual financial goals. Meanwhile, the workshop discussed healthy relationships with finances, boosting financial confidence and shifting your financial mindset.
Global themed lunches
In global office locations, our food team prepared dishes inspired by women chefs around the world.
Monthly coffee chats
As a continuation of Women@’s monthly coffee chats, this month’s conversations revolved around the “I am Woman&” theme. Pinterest employees were able to get to know each other and connect with women outside of their usual teams and stakeholders while sharing how the theme shows up for them.
Reflections from Women@ members
In addition to the perspectives of the women featured on our Life at Pinterest Instagram throughout March, below are some reflections from Women@ members:
“The 2024 Women's Conference was incredibly inspiring with speakers from all walks of life. I loved hearing from women who have broken barriers, stepped out of their comfort zones, fought for a seat at the table and have found inspiring ways to make their voices heard far and beyond."
Bindiya Duffy, IT Project & Program Manager II
“I'm working this year to put myself out there more stepping outside of my comfort zone and do more public speaking to share my story. I had the opportunity to do just that all day long at the Women's Conference—having wonderful conversations with new friends, catching up with colleagues and then I got to cap it all off by speaking on the Pinployee panel in the afternoon. I am eternally grateful to work for a company that makes space to have these conversations, and gives us time to step away from the day to day of our work to connect with one another and new ideas.”
Mara Lantz, Content Design Manager, Monetization
Thank you to Women@ for hosting our 2024 Women’s History Month celebrations and for continuing to bring our value of “Create belonging” to life.
