Technical Program Manager, Applied Science and Content Ecosystem

San Francisco | California | United States

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. As a Pinterest employee, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping users make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

We're looking for a motivated, hands-on, and analytical Technical Program Manager to lead business-critical, high-impact initiatives for our Content and Applied Science teams. The ideal person is someone who is intellectually curious, a fast learner, rigorous, enjoys Content and ML problems, and the idea of not only discussing graph embeddings with active researchers in the space, but finding the common thread among many eager customers. This is an opportunity to drive key software initiatives across disciplines as well as integrating them with other divisions’ roadmaps. You will collaborate with engineering and product management on strategy, team goals and with primary responsibility to lead execution of all phases of the development cycle, planning requirements, managing schedules, identifying and tracking risks and clear communication to project stakeholders about features our AS and Content teams deliver to customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish effective cross-functional processes to anticipate, understand, prioritize and exceed the needs and requirements of our customers
  • Build clear and transparent communication channels to align internal stakeholders and ensure that relevant audiences receive accurate, consistent and trustworthy information about Signals and content at Pinterest.
  • Get the best tools we have for content understanding to customer surfaces quickly - and build processes to make sure we can get the latest research out to production quickly painlessly and with adequate review.
  • Work with stakeholders and effectively execute all aspects of the program management lifecycle, from conception and planning through execution, delivery, support and deprecation

What we’re looking for:

  • BS in a technical discipline or equivalent experience (4+ years in a technical or analytical role)
  • 4+ years experience in a technology management role (engineering manager, product manager, program manager or technical consulting engagement manager)
  • Strong technical breadth and judgement - ability to quickly ramp up and go deep on a range of technologies, ability to identify technical risks and tradeoffs
  • Comfort with a fast-changing environment and ability to manage ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally to identify opportunities and deliver solutions
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, organizational awareness, and ability to persuade others to accomplish program objectives while holding yourself and your team to a high standard of accountability
  • Prior experience in machine learning, content ecosystems and signals is a major plus, but not an absolute requirement.
