About Pinterest:

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

We’re building The Pinterest Platform (TPP) – a suite of productized, scaled Pinterest capabilities that will empower a thriving community of Partners to build experiences upon Pinterest. We’re planning for this Partner community to ultimately grow to tens of thousands of apps and significantly grow Pinterest’s business. Most importantly, our work will enable our Pinners to discover and act upon more inspiring content than ever before – both within Pinterest Apps and within other products.

Our multidisciplinary team (Engineering, Product Management, Design, Business Development, and more) is working together to build:

  • A new externally accessible RESTful API
  • A new “customer journey” for Partner app developers
  • New administrative tools to enable us to manage the platform at scale
  • New API “products” that enable Partners to build upon Pinterest in new ways

What you’ll do:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Pinterest partner ecosystem, and the needs of partner developers who are building upon TPP.
  • Educate, motivate, guide, and support teams across Pinterest to bring new capabilities to TPP for use by Pinterest partners.
  • Directly manage the engineers of TPP’s “Foundations” team, whose mission is to empower internal and external TPP development at scale.
  • Grow the capabilities of the “Foundations” team through hiring and development.
  • Working with the “Foundations” team engineers, technical lead, product manager, and stakeholders across Pinterest, identify  projects to achieve the mission of the team.
  • Partner with technical leads on technical strategy, leveraging both “build” and “buy” as appropriate.
  • Drive the completion of technical projects within the “Foundations” team and across teams/organizations.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years software development experience.
  • 5+ years software engineering management experience.
  • Passion for building inclusive, diverse, healthy, high-performance teams – and growing the people who make up those teams.
  • Passion for / understanding of technical “products” (e.g. API’s) and their technical customers.
  • Ability to dive deep into data and complex technical problems.
  • Customer oriented (both internal and external).
  • Proven ability to partner with multiple disciplines.
  • Proven ability to execute within an immediate team and across multiple teams/organizations.
  • Someone who thrives in startup or startup-within-a-larger-company environments.
