We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Staff Engineer to join our Indexing Core Entities (ICE) team. As a member of the ICE team, you will play a crucial role in developing the data processing infrastructure to enable efficient ingestion and deep understanding of Pinterest's vast content and user base. You will be a tech lead, responsible for driving technical excellence and contributing to the success of the team.

What you’ll do:

  • Builds systems that enable various teams across Pinterest to design, build and innovate with ML-driven product features rapidly and at scale.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the data processing infrastructure for efficient ingestion and understanding of Pinterest's content and users.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand and incorporate changing requirements into the development roadmap.
  • Mentor and guide more junior engineers, providing technical leadership and expertise.
  • Drive the technical vision for the team, working closely with the engineering leadership to define technical strategies and roadmaps.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of industry experience, with a proven track record of technical excellence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Solid technical knowledge in data processing and large scale distributed backend systems.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.


  • Experience with ML model performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with distributed machine learning deployment libraries, such as Ray.
  • Experience with streaming and Lakehouse technologies e.g. ICEberg, Kafka, Flink, Spark streaming or equivalent.

Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
